Oh, is this thing on? I was given to understand that if I wrote something in here, other people would be able to see it. Is that true?

I must say, I've never written journals on a computer before. I'm sure there's some degree of efficiency to this method, although surely in the long run people will neglect pen and paper in favor of this method. Too much of a good thing, as they say. At the very least this... ah, whatever, may be useful in the future, so it will have to do.

I'd like to add that I've found myself in a rather strange environment. It is both similar to and unlike the human world all at once. There is life here, and yet it seems remarkably scarce. Moreover I'm certain I've never been anywhere quite like this before, and you'll have to take my word for it when I say that in itself is a remarkable feat. You wouldn't happen to know where I am, would you? Or... well, whoever "you" may be. I don't suppose this is directed to anyone in particular, really.

... might this be what they call an "internet," I wonder?

You are in a bubble of the only civilization left in a world that, for the most part, has been destroyed.

You en't in your own world anymore. This is a different one. So I don't know if you could say where you are.

These computers do take some getting used to! I have been told that they can be much faster than writing by hand, but typing still seems very slow to me.

There's a big portal that they pull everyone through. They won't tell anyone how it works, though. Guess you can figure out why.

Heh, I don't know who you are either, if that helps

Compared to where I came from, they seem to have already thought of quite a bit! The technology is remarkable...and a bit much to take in.
