But he's right. I can't let that happen again. I don't know how it happened before, but I have to remember, and I have to keep it from happening.

I need to know a little about you and about your world. I'm prepared to trust you, but my family's worried. There are some powerful people in our world and we don't want to face the same problems here. I need to be sure about you. If there's anyone else from your world here, I'd like to speak to them, to make sure. It's paranoia, but I need to be sure.

There's a threat here. I can't become another.

I figured. Trusting guy always has family who are all properly paranoid.

My name is Rachel Grey, codename Marvel Girl. In my world I was part of a group called the X-Men. Dunno if you've heard of us or not, some worlds do, some worlds don't, but I remember you saying something about losing your memory in your earlier posts, so you may have heard of us and don't remember it!

Either way, I'm a good guy. Cross my heart. There are a couple people from my world here, but none of them really knew me that well. Bobby Drake knew my parents, so he's probably the most likely to vouch for my non-evil status, but there's Noriko Ashida and Julian Keller as well. I'd pick Noriko over Julian, he's kind of pissed at me right now.

As far as my world goes, I'd say yours and mine are pretty damn similar.

Yeah, I know the X-Men. There was a movie. I watched it with a friend before I came here. There was the guy with the claws and the red beams. That's what you come from? And you aren't with the magnetized guy? Because he seemed to think he was a good guy. You weren't in the movie, but there was a woman who was. Jean, I think? She had red hair, too.

Anyway, I remember Bobby from the movie. Iceman. A good kid, but the guy here seems to be a little different from that.

I don't think I was an overly popular character in this world? They were able to pull up my name and a handful of stats on me, but that was about all they've got. I haven't really cared enough to look for any remaining comics, which is what I'm from, that's confirmed, at least. So there's probably a movie too, and you know how film can be. Cut it out and make it flashy.

But Jean's my mom. And the guy with the "red beams" is Scott, Cyclops. He's my dad.

I guess you're right. I wonder if there's a movie about my world, but they never mentioned anything. Just a television show and a large fanbase.

Jean seemed to be a good person. A little chaotic, but good. Scott, too. He was a good leader.

I'll trust you. I just hope you're not evil spawn or anything. Those things are normal for superheroes, right?

I take after my mom a little more than my dad.

And the spawn thing is kinda complicated, but maybe once we get your head sorted out I'll explain it to you.

Yeah, I think making sure I don't destroy the last bit of civilization is a little more important.

That would be a priority, yeah.

Can you mess with someone's head without them knowing it? Suppress their powers, too?

It's usually common courtesy to ask people's permission to invade their minds.

What if I told you this guy was dangerous? He takes people's powers through their brains, I don't know how it works, but he can do it. He's got a lot of the same powers as me. They're destructive, too. He'll probably do the same thing here if he can and he doesn't care who gets hurt in the process.

I guess ... Is the magnet guy in your world, too? This guy's worse than him.

I'll.. see what I can do. No promises, and we'll fix you first, okay?

All right, we'll do that.
