So come the start of September or around that time, I'll have been here for a year. Some of us have been here a little longer, but the idea is a little daunting. I haven't been feeling so hot lately (get it? so hot, I'm a riot), and I think it's the loss of the snow and the fact that I've been gone so long.

See, the X-Men are pretty used to this. INTERDIMENSIONAL crap, that is. We settle in, find nice and happy lives, and then we get drawn back to the world that hates us! Any day now, I'm sure me and Rachel are about to disappear, just like those other kids did a couple months ago. That's just how we roll. Let me tell you, it's not the sort of thing I need to go through.

But hey, I miss some people. It'd be better if they showed up here, really. And that's why I'm writing this. Screw filters. I'm too cool for filters.

I don't know about you but if I get pulled back into the shit I came from I'm ripping a hole in time and space to get back here.

Stupid government keeping us all in a cage or not, it's better than the alternative.

Better than knowing we're a couple of the last mutants before everything just dies out, huh?

I don't even know if I went back if I'd see Earth again. So being stuck in outer space with all my least favorite people is more what I was talking about but M-Day sucked too.

Worse than that. There was a baby who was found with the gene. A bunch of stuff later, and we basically figured out we're screwed. Big surprise, I'm sure.

...What happened? In between the baby and the being screwed.

A lot of deaths and near deaths. Pretty run of the mill, counterproductive sort of stuff.

If you don't mind my asking, what exactly are X-Men? Heard the term thrown around here and there.

When I was a kid, there were only a few mutants around, and this guy, Charles Xavier, decided to school us in the ways of being mutants and being heroes. He had a pretty big dream with it. Anyway, we ended up becoming known as the X-Men, one of the biggest superhero teams in the world, made up (for the most part, we've got a few exceptions in our allies) of mutants.

Mutants? Like metahumans?

Have to say, "X-Men" is a better name then, oh, any group I can think of back home. Superheroes or supervillians.

We probably have better uniforms, too.

If you keep your underwear under the tights and avoid primary colors, than probably.

If Mr. Freeze and Captain Cold show up here, maybe you three can start a band.

Captain Cold?

Snart's technically a villain I suppose, but still a decent sort. Worked with him a few times. Freeze is pretty much a psycho, though. Actually, neither would be on my Portal list.

Sounds just like home. Superheroes always seem to come back from the dead when they're most needed. You think they'd learn to stop building statues.

Just for reference, Viccy is a hideous bald albino-looking homicidal freak who wears a fishbowl on his head and a suit vomited up by some reject 50's sci-fi B-movie. Also? An idiot. Put himself into a wall before I could put him down the one time I ran into him.
