It's not hype, sci-fi wouldn't be where it is if it wasn't for Star Wars, it's like the genre's Lord of the Rings. Like, yeah it's a little cliche and I'm kinda glad I died before Revenge of the Sith was released (not that I didn't watch it as soon as I got here and I didn't even have to wait two years to do it but at least Lucas never sucked more hard-stolen cash out of me) — it's just freaking epic and the science is pretty well thought out in terms of space exploration and planet colonizing and robotics and it had the best effects of the time. Plus lightsabers? Jedi? Sith? AWESOME SUPERPOWERED DUDES DUKING IT OUT? Very cool.
