Are you guys all okay? You should come for dinner later this week, tell me all your zombie-fighting stories.

[ Filter: Public ]

I am no longer in a position to act on your requests as citizens of Babylon. They've requested I "temporarily" resign and given the current chaos, I think that's for the best. I don't know what the government plans to do from here.

Anyone in my employ, I promise I will write you excellent references if you want them, when typing's a little easier, but I'm not going to be able to pay your salaries anymore so it's best if you find new means of income.

Thanks for the support, those of you who supported me. I'm still going to fight for change, just in different ways.

No, this wasn't my idea. In fact, much as I love kids I was pretty much against it, for the obvious reasons. The committee seems to think you guys aren't getting pregnant enough. I know what you all think that means, and if you can honestly say you're gonna do a better job than I am then stand up and start doing it.

However, I've gone through and seen some questions; the children you are caring for are from parents who have volunteered for what they believe is the good of Babylon; I believe they will be checking up on their children between-weeks. You may be able to meet them, if you wish.

Rube Sofer and myself will be checking on children of anyone we believe may endanger them; if you think your neighbour is being neglectful, please don't hesitate to check on them, or offer yourself as a babysitter. Yes, I've got a kid at the moment too. His name's Eric. Ty Lee seemed pretty excited about him.

I think this will be easier if we all co-operate as best we can; after all, it's only one week each.

Your room-mate's on my list. Are you going to be home that week?

[ Filter: Rube & Vilma ]

Thanks for all that meditation stuff, Vilma, you saved at least one of my coffee mugs. Drinks tomorrow night at mine? Rube can bring his horde.

[ Filter: Peter ]

Thanks for defending me, though Dalton really isn't worth it. I'm beginning to wonder if I can really make anything better, or do anything other than stave off the inevitable.

I understand that a lot of you are dissatisfied with the way Babylon is currently run; I'm not exactly pleased myself. I'm glad that people are standing up and trying to make changes and implement better systems, however, which is what I have been advocating from the beginning. Whether you consider yourself 'with' or 'against' me is irrelevant to me. I ran for Congress, once, it's not as though I'm unused to opposition.

I'm holding this office and doing the work I do because I want to make changes for the better; changes that benefit the entire community. That requires a lot of paperwork day-to-day, and it's hard to make the non-fictional officials listen to my advice, especially when they are still so turbulent after the violent death of two of their primary leaders.

I know a lot of you are disillusioned after the government's most recent and panicked move, one which has caused me a lot of frustration. I'm always willing to speak reasonably with any of you, though I do not have time for those of you who come at me with bluster and violence, or aiming to deliberately antagonize.

Though I have been slightly overworked, I do feel as though I've been distant from the rest of you lately. Always feel free to consider my comments as an open forum to discuss issues you have with the way I'm handling things, or anything you want me to represent you in. If you would prefer a private arena, make an appointment with my secretary Fujioka Haruhi or send something to me in writing.

While I understand that everyone reads these things and they're an efficient way of communication, and I do act with that awareness in mind, please don't consider what is often purely my opinion to be an official statement of any kind. I have a life here too (or I try to, when my desk isn't covered with complaints.)

Finally, a lot of rumours have been going around about Constable Matt Parkman, who is a close friend of mine and who I believe to be a good man. He has recently been released from hospital after an unwarranted attack and I would ask that you go easy on him when he returns to work; we're working on getting him voice software so that you can see the intelligent and capable man behind the learning disability.

Though this evening's correspondence all seems to hinge on a particular theme, I'm afraid I'm going to have to break the pattern. Don't bother asking if anything more than anniversary fever has gotten into our fellow citizens, though, because I don't have that information at this time.

This is just a note to say the week's trial period is over. So if you can drop your Electronic Children off in the padded container provided next to the regular mailbox, that'd be a big help to us, and everything will move along much smoother. If you've broken your Child you'll have to fill out a form available at the government offices.

Thanks, guys. I hope all this isn't too much trouble, and that you all enjoyed the festivities hosted in honor of us being here. I think we've all made new friends in this place, and the Babylon Government thinks a year is definitely worth celebrating.

There will be a funeral for Zanski on the 15th of April. Greene's family have requested to have a private ceremony. I met her a few times, she was a wonderful woman with innovative ideas. The Dome will be much poorer for the loss of both these people.

Yesterday's incidents were another unfortunate occasion in a long string. The alleged criminals have been apprehended, of course — those who are not in hospital — and are awaiting trial. The government is going to be closing off certain sections of the city so as to have space to repair the damages. As far as I know there has been little or no damage done to the machinery which keeps us alive such as the air processors and weather simulator, or the portal itself.

But those are transitory lists. More importantly, we as a people are shaken but we will survive. There have been no reports of any fictional peoples missing or dead, but I know the hospital is working overtime. (Please be patient with our tireless medical staff, they're doing their best.) This is a time of trouble, and right now I'm unable to address the questions I am sure you have.

I just want to take a moment to applaud every person who went out with intent to assist; I never approve of vigilante justice, but this was the kind of community spirit I like to talk about as though it's the be all and end all. You may have been fighting for your best friend, or for your loved ones, or for the people who couldn't fight for themselves, but you did good. Some of us have powers, others don't, but using our resources to help the rest of the population is the best chance we have at survival.

I'll make this brief. The previous post and its comments were not authored by myself. There is currently no way to get back to our homes.

I now have members of the police force working to calm the chaos and send everyone safely back to their apartments, but felt I should write something here to stop more people showing up.

I assume this was a misguided April Fool's joke, and apologize for not noticing and putting a stop to this sooner. I hope none of you are too disappointed.

I have some important news, and I know this is something many among you have been hoping for. It's not an uncommon occurrence that when one is pulled through the portal into Babylon, not only does a person suffer confusion at the displacement, distress at the revelation that their life as they have known it is a fabrication designed for entertainment purposes, and sadness for the loved ones they have left behind; but there is also an overwhelming sense that they have left business unfinished in the world from whence they came.

I've felt very privileged that our government has thus far so willingly entrusted me with handling their communication with the formerly fictional residents of this dome, and even more so that I am now being asked to deliver this news to you.

The scientists of Babylon have recently made improvements on the process that brings people into this world, but they have also taken the concerns of you, valued citizen, into account and treated them with the gravity they deserve. From this day forth any person who wishes to return to their world may do so, thanks to the round-the-clock efforts of Babylon's specialists in the advancement of portal technology.

For further information, please refer yourselves to the front desk in the main government building. Obviously this is going to be an ongoing process, and we ask for your patience regarding any waiting that may occur in order to make it as streamlined as possible. Thank you.

I don't actually have much of import to say, which probably comes as a shock. Writing less than six paragraphs probably makes this unrecognisable. But I figure I should open the floor for questions again; I've been practically flooded with requests for changes in Babylon and slowly but surely we're getting there, guys.

I don't endorse random fighting, obviously, but I think the tournament sounds like a good way to remove stress and the tensions which are building up. Good luck to everyone entering.

They're so cynical. I don't know how I can convince all these people that this is the right thing to do.

[ Filter: Public ]

There's no local newspaper, so I guess I'm using these for this, too. I'm in need of some assistance, so I'm looking to fill a few positions. Anyone interested in a career in politics or law should consider applying; you will, of course, have to sign a non-disclosure agreement but you will be paid well and will gain plenty of opportunities for advancement in those fields.

Firstly, I'm looking for a bodyguard. I need someone strong, fast, and able to stand against whatever might be thrown at them. You'll be following me around a lot, so free time is a plus. Past experience will be an advantage.

Secondly, I'm going to need a personal assistant. Mostly I'm interested in someone who can be helpful but will also think for themselves. There will be a lot of interaction with various people, so you will need both the ability to speak well and also listen. You'll be assisting me in various areas, including speechwriting, taking notes and running errands, but I am willing to train anyone who wants to learn and has the right qualities or qualifications.

Finally, I need a secretary/receptionist. This will be a part-time job, mostly filing, printing and answering telephone calls, but potential applicants should be organized, punctual and able to take their job seriously. I'm fine with hiring anyone of school-age if their grades are up to standard.

Interviews will be held in Government Building C over the next week; contact me to arrange a time.

This has been a long time coming.

I think it's obvious by now how I feel about this government, but the past month has only underscored the need to have a better system in place to help us live as a community. As we are now, people are afraid; two incidents, one alarmingly recent, have shown us that even though we may band together there will be those among us who do not wish for peace.

But a witch-hunt is not the answer. Vigilante justice is not the answer. I know that is what you wish to turn to, but there is another answer. I know it's hard to believe. The legal system here is flimsy and unorganized, and though there are valiant men on the force, the law itself undermines their ability to do their jobs. I plan for that to change. Yesterday I went to speak to the men who run the government which desires children to look at pornography, the government who every day show that now they have brought us here, they don't know what to do with us. I sat in conference with them and hammered out a few ideas I hope will make this Dome an easier and safer place to live in.

At the suggestion of my brother, Peter, I have requested that the government work with us to create a complete power registration system which will stop criminals being freed due to mere lack of evidence, and provide the kind of environment that will give people second thoughts about committing such blatant and unjustified violence. Starting next week, all formerly-fictional peoples will be required to register any supernatural abilities or powers they may have with the government. Lies, misrepresentation, or outright failure to do so could result in penalization; but I doubt anyone would refuse to do something that is merely a step we must take to ensure the safety of our community.

I have also agreed to be a temporary representative of the formerly-fictional people to the government. I know that we all seem to joke that the government runs this world like a dystopia, and that's not what I want. I want a world where criminals are kept in jail and we have the same rights as everybody else. Registration is just the beginning, but I will also be attempting to stop the unnecessary monitoring of people's personal activities and looking into how we can make a better life for ourselves here.

It's been ten months, ladies and gentlemen, and we're still here. We all want to go home. But we have to make plans for the fact that in another ten months, another year, we will still be here. Just as with the unfortunate cases of Andrew Wells and Cordelia Chase, I cannot undo what has been done, only attempt to prevent it happening in the future.

Sorry if this is a little formal, at the moment I don't really have much other way to present my ideas to you all. I will be setting up a system to receive your complaints which is a little more professional than the commenting system here. For now, though, feel free to vent your issues and I'll address what I can.

Thus another Christmas passes us by. I had an enjoyable time; I am not entirely sure what to do with the rocks I received from my Secret Santa, though I am sure I can find a use for them; maybe a paperweight. Thankyou for the gift, however, and thanks to Ky, Vilma, Raito and Rube for theirs (I find I now have an excellent selection of ties.)

However Christmas is not just about gifts, and I was glad to see people enjoying spending time with their friends and family at the ball. Everybody looked their very best. This is the second time we have all come together in celebration, and I hope it will not be the last.

We move forward, into the New Year. Though you may have your own personal resolutions, consider resolving to stand together in the coming times. As more and more of us arrive, as we begin to settle into this new world, it is now more important than ever that we learn to work together to make sure all our rights are being accounted for. Nothing Constitutional, just the basic human right to live in freedom.

Perhaps not just individually but as a whole community we should also resolve to preserve our environment and take back our world from the damage inflicted on it. If you think you can help, stand up and say so; if we work together, the old residents of Babylon and the new, I am sure we can achieve what seems impossible. It sounds hokey, but I truly believe it, guys. We need to be able to live our lives freely, without the constriction of the bubble over our heads.

I know I have already said this to some of you, but it bears repeating. I'd just like to thank everyone who attended the Thanksgiving Dinner; you made it a very special occasion. Even those of you whose manners were less than polite. For those of you who were unable to make it, I hope you enjoy the next group event, whatever it may be.

A few people have asked me if I'm planning anything for Christmas - as that is a more widespread holiday, I imagine it is less necessary for me to organise a public event. However I will be spending Christmas Eve with family and friends, and I sincerely hope that all of you will be, too.

I'd just like to take this time to speak about the renewal of the seasons. Mr. Drake has already addressed this issue - with accompanying pictures - however I agree that the normal cycle of seasons is important for the health and mental well-being of a society. I hope that this coming election, summer and winter shall be restored; and if so, I would take that as a demonstration of the government listening to the people whose lives they have interrupted. It may seem a small thing, but often it only takes a few pebbles falling to start a landslide.

BABYLON THANKSGIVING DINNER

I know not all of us originated in the United States of America, but I am sure each one of you have things you are thankful for. I, personally, am thankful for plenty, most of all that I can be here and healthy with my family.

That is why I am pleased to announce the first annual Babylon Thanksgiving Dinner to be held tomorrow night at 7PM. Some of you may have seen the fliers on the street, but for those who missed them: the feast will be located at the Crestwood Hall on Main Street, and entry is free. Anybody is welcome to come along and break bread with those close to them.

Please bring a plate or dish, even if it's just something you grab from the store. Some food will be provided, for those of you living beyond your means. There will also be alcoholic beverages available, however the age limit will be enforced. Security will be in attendance and anybody displaying violent tendencies may be asked to leave.

I hope you and your friends will all join me in giving thanks to Almighty God, or whomsoever you believe in, this Thursday evening. We may no longer be in America, but our traditions will hold fast as we colonize this world and venture into a new era.

Crazy how there are a bunch of policemen and detectives sitting around feeling like they've got nothing to do when there are actual criminals walking around. But I guess a few dead fictional characters don't cut it as evidence.

Please, try to learn to accept this new world. The damage you inflict on it only hinders these people's progress towards healing the earth and repopulating society.

Many of us are from different cultures not just on the globe, but from within time, which makes us the first truly multicultural society the world has ever known. I believe that those of us with special powers and abilities have a responsibility to look out for others who do not, and though the government presses the 'breeding' issue, we should also looking to fixing the damage done to the environment, not perpetuating it.

I understand that we come from many genres and mediums, and we are varied in feeling and thought. But we are bound my our fictional existence, and it is time we stood up and said that we are real people too.

This is not an encouragement to anarchy. This is a call for self-awareness. Do not just settle for the state we are now in. Do not just put up with our predicament. Whether you be male or female, adult or child, use all in your power to make our future the kind we want to live in.

And on a final note, I miss having scriptwriter for this kind of stuff. Hi, all.
