I feel melancholy for all those who were injured, though Tamaki has moved back into the apartment at last. To protect me, he says. I have been trying to see how we could afford a piano; we simply must have one. I do not like to think of money but here it seems necessary. The inelegance of this place and these people astounds me constantly. I miss the sound of people speaking French, though Tamaki does occasionally; I think he enjoyed the wine I received at Christmas more than I did (nevertheless thankyou for that, anonymous giver, it gives me pleasure to see Tamaki happy.) There is very little wind here, and the sunshine is unrelaxing, and despite all the strange tension in the air, I often find myself without anything to do. Perhaps I should take up needlework again? Perhaps I should find a piano. Computer keys are not so melodious.

You said you were French? I was unaware that there were others here from my mother country. Others who liked to play the piano, no less.

It is no intrusion at all! I have not been very sociable here, which I am attempting to remedy. It is good to find someone else who understands; I miss France so much. Tamaki is the only person I have found to speak French to, but now I feel not so lonely. You must come and have afternoon tea with us both some time. I am still a little awkward with the piano; however I would like one because hearing Tamaki play brings tears to my eyes. You would like him, I think. Everyone likes Tamaki.

Officer Ky Kiske, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance; no matter how informal it seems over this sort of technology, it is no less of a delight.

I think we all have a difficult time adjusting. The people are foreign, the world is foreign, and even the atmosphere remains painfully unfamiliar, it seems, from anyone's world. The government stresses the idea of a new start, but that does not make it any more comforting.

No matter how many wars rage, I have always missed France. Being on Swedish soil hinders this little, as there are very few who speak our native language. I would be honored to have afternoon tea with you, Miss Tonnerre; and I'm looking forward to meeting Mister Tamaki; especially if his playing moves you so.
