What purpose does this serve?
None of this accomplishes anything. Maybe it's not safe to back out right now, but I can't see what else I can accomplish with this. Yagami's plan might destabilize the current government, but not in any way that looks like it will give any of us control of the portal anytime soon.
There's got to be a better alternative.
