...and justice for all
Jul. 4th, 2008 12:16 amI honestly thought I'd gotten too cynical about the whole Truth/Justice/American Way spiel to really give a crap about this holiday. But there was always a light show in Gotham City on the 4th. Sure, it was the "Bat Signal" or bombs more years than fireworks, but you'd definitely see something if you hit the rooftops. I'm probably just missing my rooftops as per usual, but still...
Anyway, Happy 4th of July to all you other Displaced-Americans out there. Let freedom and barbecues ring from sea to irradiated sea or something. And hey, looks like we've got some entrepreneurship, exploitation, and effective legal defense going on right now. What could be more American than that?
Oh, and please don't ask me what holiday I'm talking about if you don't know. I'm not your history teacher or a search engine, thanks.

Date: 2008-07-04 04:24 pm (UTC)There was a war in my world before I arrived in Babylon. It seemed that there were many pieces that were withheld from the public. There was still history in my world, and those memories of that time of freedom was not lost. Perhaps studying it and condoning it seems shallow without experiencing that part of history for myself; however, in the times that I have lived, I believe that I can claim the opposite.

Date: 2008-07-04 07:48 pm (UTC)Freedom is a fantastic thing, at least in theory. My experience is you never have as much as you think and plenty of people live to take advantage of it. Both the villains and the so-called heroes.
Oh dear, I think my cynicism's showing after all.
