I don't suppose anyone could point me in the direction of Xander Harris. He's a handsome one-eyed lad whose physique has reaped the benefits of a career in construction without the obnoxious cat-calling to accompany it. I'm sure you've seen him around.

A grim reaper! I have to admit this is a first for me. I mean, sure, there were plenty of demons who went around claiming to "Be Death," but that was usually just insecurity talking. That or attempting to get in my pants.

Done a lot, actually. See, due to certain circumstances involving an ex I became a vengeance demon and granted the wishes of betrayed women in a very literal fashion on their unfaithful men. But then my power centre was destroyed and I became a human with all of the fluids coming out of various orifices that that entails. Not that I minded all of the fluids, which is why I fell in love and blah blah, got left at the altar, and briefly resumed the demony lifestyle until I realised that as far as fluids go there was a whole lot more blood on the nonhuman side of things than I remembered. So here I am, human once more!

Right, we. I just thought, you know, that there was still more for me, that I wasn't done yet, and okay, technically. But none of the things are here that make it worth getting slowly suffocated by the mortal coil until your body finally gives out on you at the end of a prosperous and wrinkly life.

I think we all feel like that in the beginning, madam. I know I did when confronted with the idea of an un-life. Staying mostly the same, watching everyone you loved go on without you, and the interchanging new faces along with it. Then you end up here, and you think fate has to be bluffing you on this one, but she's not. You play your hand anyway, you're forced to even if you don't want to, because there's just no other way to go about it.

There are some things worth sticking around here. Food's still decent, for the most part. Got some of the nicer music left. People are interesting, on the whole, and there seem to be folks from your world, though perhaps not the one(s) you're searching for. Plenty of bizarre government ritual aimed at raising the population count, that's good for a laugh. Lots to read. Lots to catch up on. You weigh the good and you weigh the bad, see how it comes out, and decide if the good is worth sticking around for.

For what it's worth. It does get better.
